How to Learn Six Sigma with the Justice League

Now you may be wondering: What the most used methodology in the world to optimize results have to do with the cartoon I watched? Everything!

This quantitative, structured and disciplined methodology operates at different levels of management within a company. Let's look at each of these levels in this article and understand how we can make this incredible analogy! Any doubt? So keep reading!

Six sigma and the management system

Every business that wants success must have an efficient management system, functioning in a cohesive way in all its departments.

If you notice, senior management people are attached to the strategic level where the company's long-term goals are set, around 5 years.

At the tactical level, it is the projects stipulated for a given year, the goals that must be achieved, problems that must be solved. That's where Six Sigma itself is applied to achieve all of this.

The operational level is the brute strength of the company. It is the professionals responsible for keeping the organization running, receiving strategic and tactical levels plans to put into practice. Right, but where do the heroes fit in? Come on!

With this kit you will receive 3 templates to

analyse and present the KPI's from your company.

Strategic Level: Batman and his role in Six Sigma

batman and his role in six sigma

You know that Batman is the financier of the league tower and also the brain of the team. He is responsible for preparing the missions that will be executed, dividing the teams responsible for the execution of each mission and also paying the generated costs.

Bringing Six Sigma methodology, this hero would represent three important roles, which are: Sponsor, Champion and Master Black Belt.

The Sponsor is responsible for facilitating and making available the human and financial resources that will be used during this process. It is who injects the resources to ensure that the results will be obtained.

The Champions are usually top management. They have a responsibility to support projects and remove potential barriers to their development. They are also present at the regular meetings to verify the progress of the process.

Master Black Belt is the first Six Sigma certification that we are going to talk about. It refers to the professionals who know everything about the methodology and its tools, having an important role in its accomplishment, since they respond directly to the top management of the company. These professionals preferably dedicate 100% of their time to the project!

Tactical level: Superman and Wonder Woman.

Superman and Wonder Woman six sigma tactical level

After Batman devise the main mission and the ultimate goal, there always occurs a meeting in the league. At this meeting, the goals that were deployed at the strategic level are passed to the top 7 heroes.

Led by Superman and Wonder Woman, these heroes along with the others will act on missions devised at the strategic level. In the movie, Superman should only appear more in the end, probably when most needed! Both are the tactical level of the team, the brains of the teams that will be on the field during the battle.

It is imperative that there is a good conversation between Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, so that it is clear what must be done and also to establish means that the defeated opponents will not arise again.

The Six Sigma methodology works the same way! After the main goals are broken down by Sponsors, Champions and Master Black Belts, they become the responsibility of some areas and some managers. These deployed objectives usually become Lean Six Sigma projects!

Here comes in the figure of the Black Belts and the Green Belts. These professionals are responsible for executing the Six Sigma project within the company, operating at the tactical level of process operation.

Black Belts are professionals with an effective position in the company hierarchy. Usually, they are linked to management positions and respond directly or indirectly to the Master Black Belt.

They are responsible for the execution of more complex projects, which usually last from 4 to 6 months, involving more than one area within the company. They also tend to mentor Green Belts projects, helping to solve any problems that may arise.

Green Belts are professionals who dedicate part of their time (usually about 20 to 30%) to the activities of continuous improvement and execution of Six Sigma projects. They work on projects with a lower degree of complexity, which usually takes from 3 to 4 months to complete.

These professionals respond hierarchically to their immediate superior. It is worth stressing that there is no hierarchical relationship within the organization between Black Belt and Green Belt, only functional relationships in project development

Operational level: Flash always resolves!

flash six sigma operational level

Have you noticed that the Flash is fast to run, but he needs a brilliant mind to work out the plans? He is the fastest hero in the world and solves any problem efficiently if instructed in the right way! And the Six Sigma methodology at this level works the same way! Do you want to see it?

The White Belts and Yellow Belts are empowered in the fundamentals of this philosophy to support their superiors in the application of projects. They have a very important role because through the management of their routines by Blacks or Green Belts, they are responsible for sustaining the obtained results!

Six Sigma and Justice League: A Perfect Analogy!

As you know, the Justice League works very well, saving mankind countless times. Likewise, the Six Sigma methodology is responsible for saving results, solving problems, and increasing customer satisfaction!

This program is very well positioned in a company's management system, because it both relates to strategic and tactical levels, but also generates some activities for its operational level!
